Lincoln Continental is a model name for a series of automobiles produced by Lincoln from 1939 to 1948 and again from 1958 to 1980 and from 1981 to 2002. Although a Continental was produced from 1956 to 1957, the Continental Mark II, it was produced by the newly formed Continental division of Ford Motor Company, a separate division from the Lincoln division, so while technically not a “Lincoln” Continental, it is usually referred to as such. Despite often sharing underpinnings with less-expensive Fords, the Lincoln Continental had usually been a distinctively platformed and styled, highly equipped luxury car in the course of its long history.
