Few changes were made to the 1949 Hudson models, at least from what the customer could see from the outside or under the hood.

The Commodore line had similar upgrades with a few exceptions. The top line Hudson series added a brown color rubber front floor mat with simulated carpet insert, pocket-type storage on the back of convertible front seats, metal hand rails on the back of all front seats, and two instrument panel storage compartments.
The 1966 Furys kept the same profile as the 1965s, with a split front and rear grill motif.
From 1966 to 1969, a luxury version of the Fury, called the Plymouth VIP (marketed as the Very Important Plymouth in 1966) was fielded, in response to the Ford LTD, Chevrolet Caprice, and the AMC Ambassador DPL. These models came with standards such as full wheel covers, vinyl tops, luxuriously upholstered interiors with walnut dashboard and door-panel trim, a thicker grade of carpeting, more sound insulation, and full courtesy lighting.
In 1965, Chrysler returned the Fury to the new, full-size Chrysler C-body platform. The new 1965 Plymouth line included three special Furys: the Fury I, Fury II, and Fury III. The Fury I was the basic model, while the Fury II and Fury III offered more trim and features. Full size Furys had options such as automatic transmission, power steering, white sidewall tires (along with full wheel covers), stereo radios, vinyl tops, and air conditioning. The Sport Fury was the highest trim and feature model positioned to compete with the Chevrolet Impala Super Sport and Ford Galaxie 500/XL. It offered a sportier interior and exterior trim package.
In the 1940s came some improvement in DeSoto design including a longer 139.5 inch wheelbase. Chrysler's Fluid Drive, which allowed the driver to start and stop without using the clutch became available on the 1940 DeSoto.

The 1940 DeSoto came with a 100hp six cylinder engine. A 105hp version was optional as was a "Fluid Drive" semi-automatic transmission.

DeSoto suffered a crippling strike at the start of the 1940 production year. Prices for the 1940 DeSoto ranged from $845.00 to $995.00. Production did increased 11,000 units to 65,500 units which was slightly more than the 1939 DeSoto.
For 1964, the Impala was restyled to a more rounded, softer look. The signature taillight assembly had an "upside-down U" shaped aluminum trim strip above the taillights, but the individual lights were surrounded by a body-colored panel. The 409-cubic-inch (6.7 L) returned as the big-block option, as well as the 2X4 carburetor setup for the 425 horsepower motors. SS models continued to feature the engine-turned aluminum trim. Rooflines were carried over from 1963 unchanged. Back-up lights were standard.
The 1956 Ford was quite similar to its 1955 counterpart. There were some subtle exterior changes, including larger tail lights. The interior, however, was completely restyled for 1956. The instrument panel was completely redesigned and, in a nod to safety, padding was optional. Offered for the first time were seat belts (via)
After the initial year, which was named 300-C, the 1956 cars were designated 300B. Successive model years given the next letter of the alphabet as a suffix (skipping "i"), reaching the 300L by 1965, after which the model was dropped.
These were large, roomy cars, as much as five and a half inches longer in wheelbase and more than nine inches (229 mm) longer overall than in 1953. Roadmaster script was found on the rear quarters and within the deck ornament. Rear fenders had a blunted fin at the rear edge, with dual "bullet" taillamps below. A new panoramic windshield with vertical side pillars was used.
Seats had chrome bands on 2-door models and rear seats had an armrest on 4-door models. The front suspension was refined and Roadmaster's horsepower was increased to 200. The pillared coupe and the Estate wagon were no longer offered as body styles.
Although a Continental was produced from 1956 to 1957, the Continental Mark II, it was produced by the newly formed Continental division of Ford Motor Company, a separate division from the Lincoln division, so while technically not a “Lincoln” Continental, it is usually referred to as such. Despite often sharing underpinnings with less-expensive Fords, the Lincoln Continental had usually been a distinctively platformed and styled, highly equipped luxury car in the course of its long history.
The word "fury" denotes a type of anger, inspired by the Furies, mythological creatures in Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman mythology.
Starting in 1962 and ending in 1969, the Sport Fury was offered as a hardtop coupe or a convertible. Realizing the mistake made in downsizing their full-size cars, Chrysler Corporation began to restyle and enlarge the Plymouths and Dodges on the same platform, which improved sales in 1963 and 1964. The 1964 models saw a improvement in sales, especially the two-door hardtop, which featured a new slanted roofline. Engine choices remained the same throughout this three-year cycle.
Trim differences between the 1955 and 1956 cars were slight. Grille textures changed, and matched the ones used on concurrent Patricians, and the rear treatment, featuring Packard's cathedral style taillights also continued. The headlights also received slightly more exaggerated hoods. Total model year production equaled 263 hardtops and 276 convertibles
The 1968 LeSabre received a minor facelift including new grilles and taillights along with concealed windshield wipers. Inside was a revised instrument panel with square speedometer surrounded by other instruments with minor trim revisions for both base and Custom models.

A new 350-cubic-inch V8 replaced the previous 340. In standard form the 350 V8 delivered 230 horsepower with two-barrel carburetor and 9 to 1 compression ratio and came with a standard three-speed manual transmission or optional two-speed Super Turbine 300 automatic. The "LeSabre 400" option package included a 280-horsepower 350 four-barrel V8 with 10.25 to 1 compression and three-speed Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission. The "Switch-Pitch" torque converter used in conjunction with the Super Turbine automatic transmission was discontinued in favor of a standard torque converter.
